So over the weekend it seems a hotel in Clinton, Maryland (the Colony South Hotel) committed an unforgivable offense: someone posted the message, "Country First: McCain/Palin" on the hotel marquee. This caused a fury among Monday morning commuters, many of whom have now launched a boycott campaign against the hotel. After receiving nearly 150 complaints, the manager of the hotel removed the message Wednesday. Now, forgive me if I have this backwards, but my understanding of the liberal mindset is that minority groups must be encouraged to speak up and be heard. Indeed, they must be promoted and protected. So in a county where 77% of registered voters are Democrats, wouldn't this hotel manager's political beliefs qualify as being in the minority?
Apparently not, according to Mr. Arthur Turner (a-get this-"community activist" from Kettering). As he put it, "
People I have talked to look at the sign as a slap in the face. They feel it was blatant disrespect. . . ." Ah, now I see. Voicing a minority opinion is acceptable when it has to do with murdering the unborn, or recognizing homosexual "marriage". But when it comes to expressing a conservative view in an area where 3/4 of the population disagrees--watch out! Now you're just being disrespectful.
I suppose my favorite part of this whole thing was what professor Walters of the University of Maryland had to say. His explanation was that posting a sign supporting conservatives in "
an area that is strongly African American was like putting a stink bomb in the middle of the living room." But wait a minute! I thought Sen. Obama was leading us into an era
post-race! After all, the Senator from Illinois is as much white as he is black, remember? No matter. Conservatives should really learn some manners and quick insulting people with their "minority" opinions...

hey man. you know you and i are on different sides of the political spectrum, but i must agree with you how ridiculous this story is as well as the accusations. it was a sign! do they get offended at their tv or computer for the millions of ads that show up daily? nope. personally i think it's good that people get ruffled. maybe they'll actually try and form an opinion on their own. i'm so sick of both sides being politically unaware. they just stick to radio hosts and cable news shows to inform them. well, if he really wants to support them, he can just put an actual mcain palin sign in his yard. hehe. that i hope is still allowed these days. then on his hotel sign he should just write, sorry 'i hurt your feelings... free tissues at the front desk... inform yourself and vote crybabies'. at least comedians can still make fun and will continue to make fun of the stupidity and silliness of us all. only three more weeks of this madness.
Yup, once again the foundational hypocracy of the extreme left presents in bold relief. This is just the latest example. Everything they can imagine that they want, they refer to as a 'Constitutional Right'- yet ignore and try to remove the Constitutional Rights of others to free speech if they do not agree with them. The 'recreationally offended' are quickly becoming a curse to the country they so loudly want to 'CHANGE'. A more mature and actually thinking person sees that they will NOT like the 'change' they will get if they have their way, however. Like a spoiled child may toss temper tantrums over wanting more and more free candy, getting it will sicken him... so it is with the mind-set of entitlement and, 'the gov'ment owes this to me, because people several generations ago (and I never met) were enslaved (
by their own people) another continent and sold on this one...'. Please. Grow up. Be responsible for your own behavior, your own actions, and quit expecting others to sweat for your needs and bow to your idea of 'change' (without ever bothering to ask for specifics). Remember the Black Death and the bombing of Pearl Harbor both brought on CHANGE for the people of those times... not all CHANGE is good, no matter how glibly it is promised or how good it appears to be on the surface. Indeed, when promised by one so terribly unprepared for the highest office in the land, it is terrifying...
