Post-race
Thank God the election of Barack Obama has led America out of the dark ages when people considered things like race to be worth noticing or mentioning, right? Apparently not. It seems that Michelle Obama's evening dresses for the Inaugural balls weren't good enough for the Black Artists Association. The reason: none of them were designed by blacks. GASP! You know, this is such a stupid, idiotic, and yes, typical story involving the Left, I don't even have the energy to write more on it. Instead, feel free to read the article for yourself:FLOTUS duds get backlash
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0109/17938.html
FLOTUS's inaugural outfits sent designers to their drafting tables to design knockoffs and droves went to J.Crew to get those snazzy leather green gloves. But not everyone is happy with her choices. The Black Artists Association is chiding FLOTUS for not choosing any African-American designers.
They will send a letter to FLOTUS's office and appeal to her to include items from black designers in her wardrobe. BAA Cofounder Amnau Eele, who was a former runway model told Women's Wear Daily:
"It's fine and good if you want to be all 'Kumbaya' and 'We Are the World' by representing all different countries. But if you are going to have Isabel Toledo do the inauguration dress, and Jason Wu do the evening gown, why not have Kevan Hall, B Michael, Stephen Burrows or any of the other black designers do something too?"
Wu didn't find out Michelle O. was wearing his dress until he saw her on television Tuesday night. And aides said FLOTUS didn't even decide until hours before her big night.

Typical
Today America was graced with yet another example of the Left's inability to either model moral behavior, or punish immoral behavior, unless of course the accused is a Republican. Case in point: Mayor Sam Adams of Portland, Oregon. During his re-election bid in 2008, Mayor Adams repeatedly lied about a sexual affair he had in 2005 with a-then 18 year-old man, Beau Breedlove (I'm not making this up). He managed to get Mr. Breedlove to do the same. Now, however, everything seems to have come out, as it were, and Mayor Adams, despite heavy pressure to step-down, has announced that he will do no such thing. Why? Well, because when it was Rep. Folley (R-FL) being accused of sexual affairs with interns, the Republicans not only disaplined him, he was removed from office. But when it's a Democrat like Adams or Clinton, we all know how the game goes: lie about it, call the conservatives holier-than-thous, admit it, and then pretend like nothing ever happened and proceed to attack the Right for daring to meddle in the private affairs of public officials. Oh, and if possible, try and find something naughty somewhere in the Republican party and begin screaming bloody murder at the horror of such impropriety. Repeat if necessary.

And so it ends.

I remember standing along Pennsylvania Avenue eight long years ago. It was sleeting. I was cold, wet, and hungry. I was 16 years old. My father and I had been steadfastly guarding our lonely curb-side spot along the security line for hours. Suddenly, someone pointed out a black backpack lying on the street. Police ordered everyone to back away, but no one wanted to loose their spot. A crew came and investigated the bag and found it to be empty. Somebody's lunch, maybe, but nothing more. As time wore on and the sleet got worse someone had the bright idea of opening umbrellas and having everyone try and squeeze into small units so as to share the benefit of a canopy. This kinda worked. And then, all at once, it happened: a black limousine rolled gently past to the screams and camera flashes of thousands. In the back window I caught a glimpse of President George W. Bush's profile. My father said he saw Laura's profile, too. Then, just as quickly, the moment passed and we were all left standing there...cold, wet, and hungry.
Today I sat in my room and watched live on Foxnews.com as President-elect Obama was sworn in as President Obama. I was warm, dry, and satiated from breakfast. There was no screaming, no black bags, and no valiant-yet-hopeless attempts at sharing umbrellas. Just me, my computer, and the electronic transmission of thousands of voices cheering the swearing-in of a man commited to change. We'll see how things are four, maybe eight years from now. Until then, remember one thing, America. Eight years ago, millions of people cheered the election of a man who would, for the next five years, hold the highest approval ratings in memory. And then things changed. Not all change, it seems, is good.
